Nate Chung
February 14, 2006: Downtown Love, 2006
Nate Chung's public interventions hijack the familiar tactics of election
season shaka-elicitors and bring a unique brand of positivity and affirmation
to the everyday people and places of Honolulu. On February 14, 2006 he
received a good deal of media attention in a Valentine's Day love-fest
meets political sign-waving action called "Downtown Love." As part of
his never-ending campaign to become Honolulu's Chief Positive Thinker (CPT),
on April 7, 2006 during the opening reception for the MetroHAWAII exhibition,
Chung and his energetic volunteers will target North Hotel street between
Nuuanu and Smith. "Lovely Hotel Street" will turn the resulting attention
back onto deserving viewers by using sheer affirmation and signs emblazoned
with his bright and shining face and slogans, such as, "Thank you!" and
"You are appreciated!"
